Fantastic Four Things Friday – Week Recap No. 6
Another week full of positive events that it’s getting hard picking only 4!
1. Surprised wife with night out
For the past 6 weeks, I have been planning a night out for just my wife and I. With all my travel early in the year and running training getting ready to pick up full swing, I wanted to do something for her. Our first stope was Watercourse Foods on 17th Street in Denver. It is an all-vegetarian restaurant which I thought would be perfect for my wife. I am not a vegetarian, but do like to eat clean and healthy food. This place had it!
Next stop was the Denver Buelle Theatre. Not to see a musical, but to see Bill Cosby!
2. Ran the Boulder Half Marathon
I think this was number 6 for half marathons, but I’m not sure as I stopped counting those last year. As I wrote in my race recap, I had been kind of dreading this day. For about 2 weeks, I had been feeling run down, chest cold, and sinus issues. No matter what, I knew I was going to make it through. Tough mental battle … which is hard to even say because it’s not really a battle if one side (brain) doesn’t show up. Come to find out, it may have been my first race I’ve done with bronchitis. Good challenge, but don’t recommend it.
3. Put in a 20+ mile week
It’s starting to come back. I know I’m running more as I can’t seem to eat enough! Donuts are my friend.
4. Heard from old friends and made new ones
Whether it was someone I haven’t talked to in months or a new person that works across the hall, it is always nice to meet someone new. There’s a plethora of stories to exchange, commonality to find, and lessons to learn. I haven’t always been very outgoing, so to make friends with at least 3 strangers this week is pretty cool.
Lastly I leave you with how I’ve kind of felt the past 2 weeks, but it is all turning around:
Thanks so much for the comment on my blog (NotablyNeurotic.com). I always love getting feedback from other runners who can help me put my passion for running in perspective. You have definitely gained yourself a new reader on your blog. You’re amazing for attempting the Leadville 100! I can’t wait to keep reading about your progress!
And sometimes I think I could be a vegetarian, but then I smell hamburgers on the grill and am like, “Nope. Can’t do it.” I love burgers too much! 🙂
