I read many articles and see books on how people became successful in their business. Is this helpful to me? I don’t think so. Yes, I get excited and it makes me want to grow my business, but it never tells me how. For me it is about time. In order to grow my business, I need to find the right people to join the team. That has been tricky to date and I am still looking for highly motivated people if there are any out there!

As a runner, I do find inspiration in athletes’ stories. Their stories help me push myself when on the road and reach the next level. Some of the stories are absolutely amazing! Anyone have examples of this?

  1. There are a couple of stories that inspire me. The first is Michael Johnson absolutely smoking the field in the 200m finals at the 1996 Olympics. Michael & I were neighbors for a year during our time at Baylor, so it was cool to see someone I knew do so well. The second was during one of the semi-final heats in the 400m race. Derek Redmond, was one of the favorites to medal. He popped his hamstring and went down. He couldn’t fathom not finishing, despite his injury and got up and started to hobble around the track. His dad couldn’t bear to watch him do it by himself, and somehow got onto the track and helped him to the finish line. Now, I’m not one to cry much over anything, but every time I see it, I choke up. I’m sure it’s on YouTube, if you’re interested in finding it.
