Interviews and Gel

7.54 miles — 1:27:00

Yes, 2 days in a row. Smart idea? Call me later.

I began the run with the intention of thinking about the 2 interviews I have scheduled this morning. That didn’t happen.

Instead, I thought about the upcoming conference I am planning, and the comedians that are supplying the entertainment. These comedians have been on Last Comic Standing and tour around the country. I get to introduce these people. That made me start thinking about my trips to Comedy Works and the people that introduced the comedians. Well, they have comedians introducing comedians. I am not really a comedian, but I do have stories. Over the past few years it has become clear to me why some of the best comics are married with kids. Anyone that has 3 kids under the age of 4, at the same time, can probably relate. Much of this 7+ mile run was dedicated to thinking about stories I could tell and whether or not anyone would find them funny.

This run was also the first time I used the gel energy shots. At mile 2.7, it seemed like a good time to try these out. They go in tasting good, but seemed to get worse as they go down. You are supposed to drink a lot of water when you take these, but I don’t know what ‘a lot’ equals. Not sure if I did it right, but I told myself they work and maybe from a psychology standpoint, that is why I went as far as I did.

At mile 2.9, chased by a dog. Glad I had that gel energy shot.
