Fantastic Four Things Friday – Week Recap No. 7
Another week … this one with less sleep, which often times can provide a different perspective.
1. Went to a Colorado Avalanche game
Wife and I went out to dinner (2 weeks in a row!) and then saw the Colorado Avalanche take on the Nashville Predators. We got to hang out with a couple that we hadn’t spent much time with. It was quite a bit of fun and always great when you meet people that you connect with. When there’s rarely a lull in conversation and you almost lose your voice, that’s a good sign of people you want to be around again. It would have been great if the home team played hockey like they were in the NHL, but oh well. I believe we are calling this another “rebuilding season.” There was just some real fundamental basics missing … starting with don’t stand in front of your own goalie so he can’t see the puck!
2. Easter with the Family
In our go go go life, it’s always great to have a day that is all about the family. Church in the morning, Easter egg hunt, decorating eggs, playing outside, cooking, and eating dinner together. All 4 kids were in good spirits and played well … which makes it nice for everyone. Gathering around the table at the end of the day with everyone and watching them pass food is refreshing. Great to see that the work we put in teaching them manners is hitting home … most of the time.
3. Progressive Running
At the start of every running season, I struggle with accepting where I am. Generally I take 2 months off of running regularly, so starting up again in March is a quick reminder of listening to your body. I know it’s a temporary feeling as muscle memory eventually kicks in. The past 2 weeks I’ve been putting in 20+ miles … mostly on treadmill. Yes, treadmill. Great for mental training as well 🙂
4. Built a Garden Box
This was more fun then expected! I spend a lot of time on the computer during the week, so getting to use drills, saws, and a level outside on a beautiful day is a joy. We have rabbits that like to come in our backyard, even though we have a dog. I made sure to make the box 18″ high which should keep them out. If not, I will be adding chicken wire. Next step is to get some high quality dirt in there and start planting!
On tap for next week is more running!
Treadmill running is the best mental trainer out there! Go treadmill-rats! 🙂
