I need to slow down. Funny to say that when people consider me a runner, but I consider myself a forward motion person. Running fast has never been something I’ve excelled in. What I like to focus on is:

Running Far

The challenge I find with running slow is patience. After awhile, my brain runs out of things to think about. When that happens, it’s only natural to start thinking about what I’m doing at that moment. Running. This is not a good thing for me as it causes me to get in touch with any struggle I may be experiencing. As with anything, if you focus on pain or negativity, pretty good chance it’s going to drag you down.

On Saturday our neighbor’s wife passed away. I spent a couple of miles reflecting on the positive impact she had on me and my family. She was always filled with joy, hope, and compassion that went beyond words. You could always find her gardening, helping other senior citizens, and watching the Denver Broncos. She always treated my kids as her grandkids. An incredible woman who will be missed by many, but is at peace in heaven now.
