Reality is Negotiable

Thought I would try an evening run for a few different reasons …
1) I wanted to see if running at night worked better for my schedule.
It’s getting tricky waking up early, not mention early enough to get into an office. This was a way of seeing if I could run at this time of the day after going through everything else. It wasn’t bad.
2) See if my body would take solids while running.
As the goals grow bigger for long distance running, I need to be able to fuel up more and able to keep going. At mile 8 I had a PowerBar. Normally I wouldn’t even consider this, but the package said it was “easily digestible” even while running. Bullcrap. By mile 10 my stomach was upside down and it felt like I had a brick in my stomach.
3) Listen to an audio book.
Over the weekend I downloaded the book 4 Hour Work Week based on recommendations. Wow did the reader’s voice bore me to tears for the first 2 chapters. It started to get better and provide some interesting quotes such as “reality is negotiable.” This is something I’ve always thought as people tell me I’m crazy to run long distance. Crazy is a point of view, not a fact.
Overall, it was a good running experience and if it wasn’t for the PowerBar, I imagine it would have been much more successful. Yes, will try again soon.
