Hockey Teamwork

This weekend is the last weekend of the season for my son’s hockey team. It has been a great year for growth for my son not only on the ice, but also learning about what it means to be part of a team. A hockey team is not about one person and that is the message I have been driving all year. This leads to passing, not relying on one player to do all the work, and celebrating together.
My “end of season speech” theme will be on teamwork. It will be about applying the same concept to home, school, and life. I have seen kids grow out of their shell this year and really look around them to see what is happening. They’ve become aware of their surroundings which is crucial on the ice and off. It’s something we could all benefit from as I believe more time then not, we don’t understand the rest of the world. Countries on the other side of the world certainly have this view on us, so if we all made the effort to understand why people do what they do, then maybe there would be more progress.
