Fantastic Four Things Friday – Week Recap No. 36
Another fast-paced week with lots of fantastic things. Here are four of them …
1. Halloween of course
The girls knew they wanted to be princesses as their costume pretty early in the year. That meant deciding how son would fit into the theme. It didn’t take long to find a knight costume so he could protect his sisters. The weather this year was incredibly nice which equates to more time Trick or Treating … and of course more candy. Our neighborhood doesn’t have many events, so it is great to have a chance to mingle a bit and see just how many kids are next door.
2. Pumpkin Carving
With Halloween comes pumpkin carving and baking pumpkin seeds. It is always a fun time getting the kids to be kids and grab the pumpkin guts. I couldn’t find the small more kid proof carving knives, so I just had them draw on the pumpkins where they wanted me to cut. After that, we made pumpkin seeds. Kids decided on three batches: salt, sugar, and cinnamon. I have to say, sugar was the clear cut winner.
3. Son and Wife Run 5k
My son has been working hard with the running club to complete a 5k with his friends. This past week he did that and mom joined in on the fun. They did an awesome job and looked great!
4. Running on Donuts
One day this week I planned on running at lunch. A meeting went long, additional projects came up, and it looked like I wasn’t getting out the door. A coworker brought me some donut holes and that was all I needed. The little kick of sugar was enough to motivate me to lace up the sneakers. I went and ran the same trail I normally run, but there were many more people, and horses, out getting some movement in. It was fun to share the trail and see how many people get out and go. Do it!

Next Friday night I’ll be at Road Runner Sports in Westminster for their VIP Black Tie event, so look for me! I’ll take some photos and post about the event after. I’m sure I’ll pick up a few new running gear items as well.
