Thoughtful Tuesday Experience

Thoughtful TuesdayThis morning after my gym workout, I headed over to the grocery store to grab a bagel. My legs were a bit wobbly as I decided to a 30 minute spin class and a 30 minute rowing class. The .5 mile walk in search of my morning treat seemed a little slower then previous days. Once in the store, I glanced over to the produce thinking that would be a better choice, but decided to continue on to the bakery. While looking for the Everything bagel (a bit obsessed with these!), the lady behind the counter said good morning.

Here’s how the conversation went:

Me: Good morning to you! Thank you for staying up all night to make the bagels as they are just what I need.
Her: I’ve been doing this for almost 30 years.
Me: Wow! That’s impressive!
Her: Yeah, but I’m getting tired of it. Same routine. Same thing over and over.
Me: I imagine it gets tough to make the same thing interesting over and over.
Her: It does, but I somehow find ways.
Me: Well that’s great … keep it up and thank you again!

My dad has done the same thing for almost 4 decades. That amazes me! Getting up and doing the same thing everyday … sometimes being invisible. It makes me look around for the hidden treasures more and let them know they are seen.

The world does keep moving, but it’s the experiences created by people that makes it worth going for the ride.

Say something nice to a stranger today, bring in coffee for a coworker you rarely talk to, or just look behind the counter.

Welcome to Thoughtful Tuesday.
