Colfax Half Marathon

02:06:33 – 13.1 Miles

A beautiful day for a run! Arriving for the race, I was completely relaxed, chatting with complete strangers, and ready to push myself harder then any long distance run I had before. Everyone was in great spirits and I was excited to see just how far I had come in a year since my last half marathon and with running a full marathon just 2 weeks ago.

The gun went off and away I went! The first 7 miles were a gradual uphill of Colfax and into the sunlight. I kept the same pace the entire way and told myself to go faster. As usual, I didn’t take part in an aid station until mile 4 and around mile 6, my body wanted me to stop and use the bathroom. I pushed on. There would be no excuses for stopping on this race.

After mile 7, it was a nice gradual downhill all the way back. Except for the last half mile … that was a small uphill I wasn’t really expecting.

Overall, hit my major goals:
- Set a Personal Record (beat my last time by 13 minutes)
- Do not stop
- Faster then 10 minute miles (9:45 or so)

I really wanted to do the half in under 2 hours, but at least now I know what to do to make that happen!
