Fantastic Four Things Friday – Week Recap No. 3

Fantastic Four Things Friday – Week Recap No. 3

Another week and time to remind myself of the positive things. There are always more then 4, but it’s important to stop and know that it wasn’t just a week of challenges.

1. Washed my car
I think my car actually smiled. It had been about 4 months of gathering dirt, crushed pretzels, juice boxes, and more. That on top of the 70+ degree weather made it a joy to do the commute.

2. Slept
Each night this week I slept for at least 8 hours. It’s not a normal occurrence, so I’m taking it as a sign that my body needed to recover. I have silently been ignoring the upper respiratory bug I hadn’t been able to shake, but appear to be about done with it.

3. Made a paper mache Jupiter
One of the times of fatherhood I always looked forward to was being able to work on school projects with my kids. This week, I was introduced to making the paste for paper mache (cup of water and cup of flour) and applying strips of newspaper to a ball. We didn’t want to use a balloon because after all, Jupiter is the biggest planet! Somehow I forgot just how much time it takes to do a project like this.

4. Made up a new quote
As Beth over at Life is a Run pointed out this week, I like to share deep thoughts. The quote that I came up with this week was around me feeling stressed about the 100 mile race, raising money for the American Cancer Society, and some other choices coming up:

You have to be everything to yourself before you can be anything to anyone else.

I realized that I have to make sure I’m taking care of myself before I can make decisions that impact others. It also showed me that I can’t control everyone else’s choices, so some things I just need to let go.

Looking forward to another great week on the horizon!

  1. Ugh, SO SORRY!! So behind on blogs!  Sorry to just be reading this, but what a great post! And I really think that quote is awesome!  Something that I need to write down and let it be apart of my thoughts every so often throughout the week!  Love that you do these four things Fridays with the positives – it really is great!
