Finding time to stop for 10 minutes and write down thoughts is rough.

Looking at my last post, I see that I announced I have registered for my first ultramarathon. Then no more posts. Well that makes an unintentional statement.

Since that post, I have run 100+ miles each month for the past 3 months. That has led to a great accomplishment while learning about injuries. I’ve always had nagging things with knees, stomach, and mental. Normal long distance running issues.

This past month I have experienced an irritating achiles tendon. Tricky thing is that there is no quick fix to this. I’ve found ways of changing how I run to get through it, but wonder about long term issues. Experimenting with stretching, massaging, and Ibuprofin to make it workable.

At the same time, I’ve learned to just deal with the irritation and follow the slogan: Make pain your friend.

Excited, nervous, and looking forward to the great adventure of 50 miles in Leadville.
