HD DVD’s New Feature: Watching Movies Together But Not In the Same Place

Starting with the release of the new Harry Potter movie on HD DVD, ‘community viewing’ is being tested. This means you can watch the movie at the same time as your friends around the world while sitting on your couch. You send out an invite to friends to watch the movie at the same time, then you are able to chat with them during the movie via cell phone or remote, and the host can pause/play the movie.

While that’s kind of cool, how about just inviting them over to your house to watch it? Just sounds like a teleconference at home to me….
Seeing as you and I live an hour away, could make for a late night!
