In follow-up to previous post of Young Kids Don’t Read, maybe it’s not that they don’t read, but they have a different expectation. People want information and music now and at their fingertips. This caused a major shift in thinking for the music industry and maybe it is time for the literary world to do the same. Whether this means an author podcasting a reading of their book to live web readings or making eBooks more friendly. Amazon is entering the market with an eBook device called Kindle. CNET has a nice overview on their blog about Amazon’s Kindle. The device has wireless capabilities so as cities eventually have free wi-fi, you’ll be able to sit on the bus and download the latest news, books, and magazines to read. We already can download traffic updates wit GPS devices so it is only a matter of time before other information is included in these downloads.
