Mix It Up Monday No. 1
It is Monday. The day that everyone posts on Facebook, Twitter, and their car window that “Mondays Suck” to the world. Why is it a surprise that Monday is here? Monday isn’t the hard part for me. It’s always the 5 days that follows the weekend that can be a challenge.
Today as I walked from my car to the office, I decided to mix it up a little. Instead of playing it safe with the morning coffee choices, I ventured into a new language of coffee. My new favorite coffee place near the office is quite swanky. I mean that in a good way as in they know what their coffee. We all have the things we specialize in … running, writing, procrastinating, talking, space … these guys know coffee.
That’s kind of intimidating. I just wanted a regular coffee. No cappuccino, espresso, or Americano that I’m safe with. Yet, I didn’t know how to order just a regular coffee. They dont’ have a coffee pot or giant vat with a spout. They do have a sign with options for daily coffee.
“Which of these coffees are strong?”
“Well all of our coffees are strong.”
Failed already. Must keep going!
“Oh, well, which have the most flavor.”
“The first one has a really bold flavor and comes from … blah blah blah … then the second blah blah blah …”
I know she said something important with a backstory, but I was just excited that I asked a valid question!
I went with the first choice, the Finca De Dios because I couldn’t really pronounce the second outloud. It was impressive to watch someone execute their craft and what they are passionate about. Not completely to my surprise, but there was indeed a difference in regular coffees. It certainly seems to be more potent and taste quite good!
Every Monday, I’m not going to drag on about how it’s Monday again and how it oh so sucks. Instead, I’m going to mix it up a little and use it as an opportunity to try something new. This doesn’t mean going out and buying a new car, finding a new job, or finally dusting the back of my computer. Just doing 1 thing out of the ordinary and seeing where it takes me.
Love your new Monday attitude! It’s a great one to have and one we all need to remember!
an a good monday to you Alex. hugs and kisses. aunt pauline
