Fantastic Four Things Friday – Week Recap No. 43
1. Hamburger Donut
My team knows me. Every couple weeks we do a team lunch at work. This past week we went to Stuft in Fort Collins. It is a burger place that you can create your own burger. I arrived a few minutes after the team and was informed they already picked out what I was going to eat. Okay. Come to find out there is a hamburger with bacon, fried egg, cheese, and maple syrup … on a glazed donut. Did I eat it?
2. House Warming Party
It’s always great to get together with friends and celebrate a life milestone. Jamie and Sarah bought a house together so had people over. Not sure if they knew that bringing my family with 4 kids also meant breaking in the houses. It was such a great time and the kids made new friends while stuffing their faces with cookies. As it got darker, a fire was lit in the backyard as well as the fireplace. Great people, excellent beer, and nothing short of topics in conversation. Certainly something that needs to happen more often!
3. Cookie Baking in Full Swing
The day after Thanksgiving we all go through the list of what cookies we want to make for Christmas time. They range from NoBake Cookies to Buckeyes. Last week we already made gingerbread cookies and pfeffernusse cookies (hard stuff you dip in tea). So hard to pace myself and not eat them all as they come out of the oven! It’s a great time for everyone to gather in the kitchen and get their hands in the mix. Plus be a bit silly … I like to make sure we’re a bit silly.
4. Downtime
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be doing very little work. There will be a lot of reading books with kids, throwing around a football, playing tour guide to in-laws, and maybe some writing. Just a time to reflect on the past year, where I am, and what is on the horizon.
