Fantastic Four Things – Week Recap

“Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller

Each week goes by at alarming speeds it seems, so I wanted to try something new. On Fridays, my goal is to point out 4 things from the week that were fantastic, important, and a success.

1. Selected for Team Sun-Rype
Beginning at my half marathon on April 1st, you’ll see me wearing running gear sporting the Sun-Rype logo on it and snacking on their 100% fruit snacks! I’m very excited to be representing a company that provides healthy food options for athletes and families. As I have 4 kids, it’s important to have something healthy and quick available!

2. Put in 12+ miles
All treadmill. It’s not the 35 miles a week of 6 months ago, but it’s a step (literally!) in the right direction. Running on the treadmill is great mental training as I find once I get outside I have a faster pace. It also allows me the chance to multitask and watch tv. Although on the 2nd run this week, my beloved tv of 15 years blew out. Fortunately, I found a very nice person on Craigs List and picked up a 27″ tv for $20!

3. Found a new favorite coffee shop – Aviano
Being a New England native, Dunkin’ Donuts is my coffee and donut of choice. Soon they will be here in Denver, but in the meantime, I found an awesome coffee shop. The place is Aviano Coffee and located just around the corner from my office in Cherry Creek. These people take their coffee seriously … and the customer benefits from it!

4. Leg compression sleeves
At races, I have always seen runners wearing what looked like socks from the 80’s. I never really knew what they were about until I met Zensah Compression Apparel company. Wow! They do make a difference! These are tight sleeves that you slip on that go from your ankle to right below your knee. The tightness holds everything in the right place so that lactic acid can leave the muscle efficiently as you work it. This reduces fatigue and recovery time. After each of my 6 mile runs, I stepped off the treadmill and didn’t feel any tightness or pulling in my calves. It was crazy! I’ll be experimenting with them again on some mountain runs and provide a full recap soon.

So those are 4 (of many) fantastic things from my week. As you go throughout your week, look for your four and who knows, you may find out things are a little more fantastic then you thought!
