Thoughts to Distract

Whenever I run, I like to go into it with an idea, story, or problem to solve. This helps me think less about running while still moving forward.
Lately, I’ve done my best to not solve problems on my runs. No interest in making running into work. Of course, it appears that when I focus on not thinking about something, then that is all I can think about.
I like to break rules. Some people tell me that you should just run and not try to adjust your body. After all, your body knows how to run, so just go do it. If you tell Tiger Woods to just go out and hit the ball, sure he can do that. However, can he improve it and make it even better. Absolutely! Even after winning multiple major championships, he took 18 months to change his swing. During that time, he knew that his winning may be impacted, but he wanted to refine his form. The same goes true for running. There are more efficient ways to run that can allow you to be faster, go longer, and reduce risk of injury. Something I say to myself often:
Once we get comfortable, we start to decline.
There are so many examples in our history that don’t even include athletics. What if NASA put a man in space and said that’s nice, then closed up shop? No, they pushed the boundaries and decided to see what else could be achieved.
As a world, if we were to change our way of thinking and look past our front porches, we could make changes at lightspeed. We all have challenges, but if we look a little further, we can find others having the same challenges. Whether it be finances, relationships, food, kids, school, traffic, or anything else that wears you down, someone else in the almost 7 trillion people in the world is experiencing it.
Why not partner together and find the best solution for everyone?
