52:58 – 5.31 miles

I haven’t run as much as usual over the past week for a few different reasons. The main one being I had a sinus cold of some sort coming and going. As it felt like someone was trying to push my eyeballs out of my head, I decided taking a few days off might be good. Between work, home, and life, body was needing extra sleep. I either run before the sun comes up, or not at all. I’m working on scheduling in running better during the days and so far it’s starting to work. For work, I start by 7a, rarely get lunch away from the desk, and leave around 4p. Drive home, few hours with family and getting the kids (4) to bed, then back to checking emails, reading articles about what’s happening in the industry, and letting friends know I still exist, the day is pretty much gone.

So lately I’ve been feeling sluggish about pretty much everything. A non-runner friend said to change it up and do something different. This morning after breakfast, I decided to see what my dog could do. He’s gone a couple of 2-3 mile runs with my wife and I know I need to increase my speed, so plan seemed good. It was fun running with him and certainly kept my mind off running. I had to keep my eyes open for bunnies, dogs, and people to know when a sprint was coming. At mile 3 I stopped and took out a fold up water bowl and added some water. He was not interested as he seemed more interested in moving forward. Onward we went!

The last mile he was slowing down a bit, but still determined to continue. On the last turn, a rabbit decided to dash across the sidewalk in front of us. The little incident about caused me to lose my arm! Overall, I would say he did really well and I believe I have found my new trainer.
