Email on a plane

I have always been a fan of JetBlue as they have gone above and beyond when I fly with my family. When my mom decided to conquer her fear of flying, I suggested JetBlue. She couldn’t believe how friendly they are and that they don’t charge for services. You want an extra bag of chips or soda? No charge. Need a blanket or pillow? No charge. It is even silly to think that airlines are charging for these services, but with rising fuel costs and great competition for customers it is happening.

Now JetBlue is testing out free email, Blackberry services, and instant messenger during a flight. I have always been against the idea of allowing cell phone calls on a plane, but this is a communication service that would not intrude on other passengers. As someone who owns their own business, I know that being without email and phone contact for 5-6 hours can decrease service quality to my clients and possibly lose the edge on a deal. Good for JetBlue in understanding that offering free services can actually boost revenue!
