Presentation Reflection
1:09:00 – 6 miles
Yesterday I did a presentation at church about a land purchase proposal. The church has the blessing of running out of physical space in it’s current building. The community continues to reach out and ask for more help with needs including a food pantry, shelter for homeless, youth activities, and more. While other churches in the metro area are declining financially and attendance, we are growing. Much of it is the location, but also the amount of outreach and programs happening.
I don’t mind speaking in front of groups of people and in fact, I would rather speak in front of several thousand then just 50. The feedback on my presentation was quite positive with some overwhelming compliments. I’m quite critical of myself, so I generally don’t know how to take positive feedback when I believe I could have done better.
What’s interesting is the number of comments regarding how much time I must have practiced. Well, here’s my secret:
I practice when running.
It’s the only uninterrupted time I have and the ability to let my mind place all of the thoughts in a compelling manner. If more people would take a break from the world and slow the brain down, many new ideas and thoughts could be realized.
