Is Bill Good For Hillary’s Campaign?
In an interesting blog by Off the Bus, there is discussion on whether or not Bill Clinton can help or hurt Hillary’s run for the nomination. There is definitely a good and bad to this discussion. They both of have the experience of being on the campaign trail and he could be vital to helping set her expectations when going into a debate or public event. Let’s face it, she rarely ever looks rattled in front of a camera.
Where Bill can come in most handy is fundraising. He still has the charm and ability to connect with a person that catapaulted him in the polls when he ran. Granted, he went on tv and played the sax … not many politicians open themselves up this way. He still has the reputation of what happened his last 6 months in office though. This is where it could hurt Hillary’s campaign.
Either way, the Democrats have an opportunity to take control of the White House. What they need to do (from a marketing standpoint) is create a team with a message that appeals to the majority. If Hillary and Obama run their own campaigns, it may divide the votes and leave enough on the table for the Republicans.
At this point, it is a PR campaign that will make the decision.
